CIA to show bin Laden photos to some US lawmakers

The Central Intelligence Agency this week plans to show some lawmakers photos of a deceased Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden, who was killed May 2 in a daring US raid, officials said.

Dutch Ruppersberger of Maryland, ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence committee, was to go to CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia outside Washington to see them Wednesday or Thursday, his spokeswoman Heather Molino said.

The committee chair, Mike Rogers of Michigan, already saw the images on May 2.

John McCain, the Republican senator, told a journalist he did not plan to see the images, noting: "I’ve seen enough dead people in my life."

Pakistan's Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Monday announced that a lieutenant general would head an inquiry "to get to the bottom of how, when and why" bin Laden had been hiding in the garrison town where he was killed by US forces.
